As the search operation in Poonch enters its sixth day, security forces have unearthed a troubling connection between terrorists infiltrating from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and state-of-the-art Chinese weaponry.
The discovery has prompted serious concerns about the nexus between external actors, the Pakistan Army and the terror groups operating in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources within the security establishment reveal that infiltrators believed to be affiliated with dreaded outfits such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, have been equipped with the latest Chinese-made gear, including encrypted radios and devices for secure and covert communication. The cache also includes advanced rifles, pistols, grenades, drones and bodysuit cameras.
“The recovery of state-of-the-art Chinese equipment among terrorists in Poonch is a stark reminder of the evolving nature of asymmetric warfare. This demands a proactive and adaptive approach to counter the threats posed by external factors supporting terror outfits,” said a Defense expert.
“Arms and communication devices recovered from the encounter sites mirror the ones regularly supplied by China to the Pakistan Army. These kinds of supplies to terrorists on the ground is a new level of concern among military officials,” added he.
Intelligence reports have revealed the presence of approximately 50 Pakistani terrorists believed to be hiding in the forested areas of Rajouri-Poonch. Defense sources further suggest that this discovery points to a broader strategy orchestrated by the Pakistan-China nexus, aiming to maintain a substantial military presence in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Indian security forces face a multifaceted challenge as they grapple with the suspected resurgence of terrorism in a region that had witnessed successful stabilization in recent years,” emphasized a Defense source familiar with the evolving situation.
In response to this imminent threat, a large-scale operation has been launched in the rugged upper reaches of Rajouri and Poonch.
The operation aims to neutralize the suspected terrorists and dismantle their networks in the region. The suspected resurgence of terrorism in areas that had previously experienced successful stabilization adds complexity to the security landscape.
Joint security forces are working tirelessly to neutralise this threat and ensure the safety and stability of the region.
