Bandipora: From decades Kashmir valley is known for its art and tradition. With the increasing adoption of modernisation , the stone Sculptors in Saderkot village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district are keeping the traditional art of stone craftsmanship alive.
In Bandipora these artists worked for years with his meticulous art crafting everything from pestle and mortar to intricate floral art on the local stone, Dewar kaen.
Speaking with the News Agency Current News of India (CNI) Abdul Aziz Wani said that he had crafted a stone clock in just four days to fulfill the demand of her daughter.
He also said that from the Sandlot bala village of Bandipora is known for its art, peoples from different parts of valley earlier visited to buy these products but now these artists face hardships with low demand.
“We need to preserve our art no matter how modernized we will be. The valley is known for its art all over the world and we will preserve it,” he stated.
Another local resident Gh Mohd said these seasoned artists breathe life into stones by crafting into different designs.
He further added that the government should intervene and help these artists to sell their products so that the traditional art will be alive for future also.(CNI) Current News of India
