Putting all the speculations to rest, the Chief Election Commission dropped its plans to hold assembly elections in the Himalayan region for now.

Despite saying in his opening remarks that the ‘assembly elections are due in J&K too’, the Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar made no mention about conducting of the assembly elections any time soon.
