Srinagar, 16 March: (CNI) In a significant announcement, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar as per news agency Current News Of India said thar the culmination of Lok Sabha elections will soon be followed by Assembly elections in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile Bhartiya Janta Party leader Malik Yaqoob welcomed the CEO decision.

He hoped the after parliamentary elections soon after assembly election will be held in UT Jammu and Kashmir.

Answering to a query, Kumar said that all the political parties in Jammu and Kashmir unequivocally urged them to hold Lok Sabha and Assembly elections simultaneously, however when the matter was taken up with security agencies the proposal was turned down by the latter, owing to the security scenario of the region.(CNI)
