Imdad Saqi condemns derogatory depiction of Ayatollah Imam Khomeini in NCERT textbook

Srinagar, April 27:(CNI) In a recent development, Senior Journalist and Social Activist Imdad Saqi has voiced his strong condemnation of the disrespectful portrayal of Ayatollah Imam Khomeini in a textbook published by NCERT. 

 

Saqi, known for his unwavering commitment to social justice and religious harmony, has expressed deep concern over the alarming trend of weaponizing education for communal agendas.

 

“The depiction of Ayatollah Imam Khomeini in such a derogatory manner is not only offensive but also perpetuates harmful stereotypes,” Saqi stated in a press release.

 

Highlighting the dangers of communalization in education, Saqi emphasized that such actions only serve to deepen existing divides in society.

 

“Education should be a tool for enlightenment, not for spreading hatred and misinformation,” he added.

 

Saqi urged NCERT to take swift action to rectify the situation by removing the offensive content from the textbooks and issuing a public apology.

 

He emphasized that failure to do so would not only be a disservice to the principles of education but also contribute to the further polarization of society.

 

In a firm stance against the perpetrators of such defamation, Saqi announced his intention to pursue legal action against the publisher and author responsible for the offensive content.

 

“We cannot allow for the defamation of revered figures to go unchecked,” Saqi affirmed, underscoring the importance of accountability in the dissemination of information.(CNI)
