Srinagar, 21 May :- Janata Dal (United) State President G M Shaheen and State General Secretary Vivek Bali strongly condemned the recent incident involving a senior political leader and his supporters at a local polling station in Pattan.
Reports indicate that the senior political leader, along with his supporters, forcibly entered the polling station, causing significant disruption. When SHO Pattan Khalid Fayaz intervened to restore order, he and other police officers were allegedly assaulted by the leader and his supporters.
Vivek Bali urges the Election Commission to intervene and thoroughly check the polling station for any discrepancies. Additionally, the JD(U) calls on the Lieutenant Governor to intervene and resolve the matter promptly. This is the new Jammu and Kashmir, and such incidents should not be tolerated.
The JD(U) Leaders Shaheen and Bali firmly stand against any form of violence and disruption of the democratic process. Such actions are completely unacceptable and undermine the principles of democracy and the rule of law. We commend the efforts of SHO Khalid Fayaz and his team for their dedication to maintaining peace and order during the polling process. Our party believes in peaceful and democratic means of addressing grievances and encourages all political entities and their supporters to adhere to these principles.
Shaheen and Bali call for a thorough investigation into this incident and urge the authorities to take strict action against those found responsible for this reprehensible behavior.
The JD(U) remains committed to upholding the values of democracy, peace, and justice. We will continue to work towards ensuring that such incidents do not recur and that the integrity of the electoral process is preserved.CNI
