SKUAST-K organized one day entrepreneurship awareness programme for rural youth in agriculture and allied sectors

Division of Agriculture Extension & Communication Faculty of Agriculture Wadura, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Kashmir organized one day awareness programme on “Strengthening entrepreneurship  & management of  startup in mushroom cultivation , processing, preservation and value addition in collaboration with Govt. Degree College Patten and division of plant pathology SKUAST-K at mushroom centre (FoA) Wadura sponsored by Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME)

The objective of this awareness programme was to enable and mobilize students/ participants to incubate ideas and motivate them about commercial mushroom cultivation. The programme was attended by,Dr.Tabasum Nazir Quadri (Associate Professor& Course coordinator),GDC Pattan, Dr. Vikas Gupta (Associate professor) and the whole event was chiefly coordinated by Dr Qadri Javid Ahmad peer.(Assistant Professor). He formally welcomed the guests & participants and briefed about the important role of  entrepreneurship opportunities in mushroom production under temperate conditions. Dr.Vikas Gupta enlightened the students about the cultivation, incubation and availability of business potential of mushrooms in agriculture based startups. He further added that startups play a key role in promoting innovation in a society and stressed the need for creating more synergies in the educational ecosystem for skilling of the youth. Further Dr .Naseema (Research Associate) did practical demonstration of the said topic. Entrepreneurship in the field of agriculture can generate wide range of economic benefit and business opportunities such as increased food production and productivity, creation of new startups, innovative products and services, increased export etc. The students of masters and Ph.D scholars also attended the programme. At last, the vote of thanks was presented by Wycliffe Ongachi (Ph.D scholar) and the programme came to its conclusion.
