Srinagar, CNI: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti has written to J-K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, asking him to form a committee to review the cases of terminated government employees in the Union Territory.Since 2019, Mufti said, the pattern of abrupt dismissal of government employees has devastated many families in the region. She cited a case of an employee who she said, was dismissed under Article 311, arrested under draconian UAPA, and was imprisoned for several years before ultimately being acquitted of all charges by the courts.Mufti said, his ordeal caused him serious health issues, and he passed away, leaving his wife and five children behind.Mufti suggested that these dismissal cases should be brought under scrutiny, and a committee must be established to review such cases. She said, the committee should also take care of the financial assistance of these families. She also suggested to ‘develop clear guidelines to prevent similar injustices in future.’Posting the letter on her official X-handle, Mufti said, she has written to CM about the sad plight of the families whose members have been arbitrarily dismissed from government services on flimsy grounds without a thorough investigation and fair trial.Mehbooba hoped Omar will take a humanitarian view to alleviate the sufferings of these families.Dozens of employees have been dismissed since 2019 for allegedly taking parts in anti-national activities.
