Donald Trump, the US President-elect, vowed to “prevent World War III” and stop “the invasion of our borders” during a rally in Washington DC on the eve of his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States. Speaking to a packed audience at the “Make America Great Again” rally, Trump pledged to restore border security, roll back outgoing President Joe Biden’s executive actions, and undertake “the largest deportation exercise in American history.”

 

He outlined plans to classify drug cartels as “foreign terrorist organisations” and reinstate the “Remain in Mexico” policy, declaring that all illegal border crossers would “be on their way back home” by the end of his first day in office.

 

On foreign policy, Trump promised to end the war in Ukraine, stabilise the Middle East, and prevent World War III, warning, “You have no idea how close we are

 

Trump also claimed credit for the recent Gaza ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, attributing the deal to his leadership and asserting that the war would never have occurred if he had been in office.

 

In addition, Trump announced the revival of TikTok in the US through a joint venture granting the United States a 50% ownership stake, emphasising the move as a protection of American jobs and security.

 

With sweeping promises on immigration, foreign policy, and economic reform, Trump signalled an assertive start to his second term as he prepares to take office
