Large parts of the Kashmir Valley, particularly Srinagar, faced power outages on Wednesday due to a one-day strike by permanent and

temporary daily wage workers of the Power Development Department (PDD). Both metered and non-metered areas were affected, causing widespread inconvenience to residents.

Shabir Ahmad, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Permanent Daily Wagers and Temporary Daily Wagers (JKPDL/TDL), confirmed to the news agency current news of India(CNI)Trust that the disruption was a result of their strike.

He said the protest was aimed at pressing for the long-pending demand for regularization of their services.”Many employees have been working for years on meager wages without being regularized.
