leader and MLA of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, M Y Tarigami, has expressed deep concern over reports of nocturnal raids and arbitrary detentions in the aftermath of a terror attack in the Behibagh area of Kulgam.
In a statement on social media, Tarigami condemned the attack and the loss of innocent lives but criticized the alleged security measures targeting the local population. “Reports of nocturnal raids and arbitrary detentions following a terror attack in Behibagh area of Kulgam are deeply disturbing.
While the killing of innocent people deserves the strongest condemnation, subjecting an entire community to collective punishment is unjust and unacceptable,” he stated.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region following the attack. Security forces have reportedly intensified operations in Kulgam, leading to concerns about the impact on civilians.Tarigami has called for restraint and urged authorities to ensure that security measures do not lead to the harassment of innocent people.
His statement has sparked discussions on social media, with many echoing his concerns over the treatment of the local population during counter-terror operations.
