Tangdhar / Kupwara – CNI- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday visited the shelling-affected areas of Tangdhar in Kupwara district, where he met with families impacted by recent cross-border hostilities. While addressing the media and local residents, the CM assured that the government stands in solidarity with the affected people and will take every possible step to help them rebuild their lives.
“You have seen the damage here,” said Abdullah. “Thankfully, there has been no loss of lives, but there has been significant damage to property. A thorough damage assessment will be conducted, and compensation will be provided to the affected families.”
Highlighting the need for improved civilian safety infrastructure, the Chief Minister noted that while community bunkers had been built in the past, they have remained unused for a long time, and no new bunkers have been constructed in recent years. “Locals have suggested that individual bunkers should be made. The government will design a scheme for this purpose and hold discussions with the Central government to implement it,” he said.
Expressing hope for lasting peace along the Line of Control, the CM reiterated the state’s commitment to maintaining the ceasefire. “We all want the ceasefire to continue. The resilience shown by the people here amidst such adversity is truly inspiring,” he added.
Abdullah emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring that the pain and suffering of the people of Tangdhar do not go unnoticed. “We will stand shoulder to shoulder with the affected families. Every possible step will be taken to help them rebuild their lives with dignity and renewed hope.”
The visit comes as tensions have escalated in recent weeks along the border, underscoring the urgent need for civilian protection and long-term peace.(CNI)
