GANDERBAL(cni) :’Ruheena Shahzad has extended her sincere appreciation to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari for their continued commitment to the development of Jammu and Kashmir, following the recent approval of 19 transformative road and tunnel infrastructure projects valued at ₹10,637 crore.
Calling the move “historic,” Shahzad lauded the Central Government’s visionary push to strengthen connectivity, improve mobility, and lay the foundation for long-term economic growth in the Union Territory.
Key sanctioned projects include:
🔹 Peer-Ki-Gali Tunnel
🔹 Sadhana Tunnel
🔹 Zaznar–Shopian section of NH-701A
🔹 4-lane flyover from Lal Chowk to Parimpora
🔹 Trehgam–Chamkote section of NH-701
🔹 4-lane Magam Flyover on Narbal–Gulmarg road
🔹 Qazigund Bypass
…and several other critical connectivity projects across the region.
“These projects will not only enhance year-round, all-weather road access but also significantly reduce travel time, improve logistics, and boost tourism and trade,” Shahzad noted. “Most importantly, they will bridge gaps between remote areas and mainstream development.”
Echoing the sentiment of Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, she emphasized that these initiatives will serve as powerful engines for socio-economic upliftment, national integration, and inclusive growth.
