JAMMU:(cni) Apni Party Incharge Trade Union, Ajaz Kazmi today demanded compensation, and regularisation of the daily wagers working in various Govt Departments in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference here, Kazmi said that lineman of the JPDCL namely Mohinder Kumar, Rajinder Kumar, both working in Division 3rd Jammu and Deepak Kumar were working in Kashmir where the trio lost their lives during duty hours.
“These people work 24X7 by taking risks to their lives without guarantee of their jobs or regularisation prospects so that the Govt departments should not stop working and people do not suffer,” he said, addressing the press conference in Jammu.
He said that the family members of the linemen and other daily wagers who died while performing their duties were not given Govt jobs to the next of kins of their family members. Thus, these poor families further pushed towards poverty and starvation like situations with no future for their children.
“The Govt should formulate a policy for the regularisation of the daily wagers including linemen and others. Enhance their wages, and release all the pending wages,” he demanded.
He demanded that the regularisation of daily wagers is important to fill up the gap in the Govt department where they face shortage of manpower and skilled employees.
“These daily wagers have been working in various departments for the last two decades or more. However, the previous Govt also failed to fulfil their demands even as they were assured regularisation,” he added.
Later, he also demanded that the daily wager’s family members/kins shall be provided permanent Govt jobs.
