In a key initiative aimed at supporting persons with disabilities, Sakeena Masood (Itoo), Minister for Social Welfare, Health & Medical Education, and School Education, distributed motorized tricycles to 28 beneficiaries at a function held in Poonch today. The event was organized by the Department of Social Welfare and saw participation from several senior officers and dignitaries.

MLA Haveli, Ajaz Ahmed Jan, was present on the occasion and appreciated the department’s efforts in reaching the most vulnerable sections of society. He emphasized the importance of empowering the differently abled through accessible mobility and government support.

Other dignitaries present included Sh. Gurpal Singh (IAS), Director Social Welfare Jammu, Shri Pankaj Magotra (JKAS) Additional District Development Commissioner Poonch, and Shri Tahir Mustafa Malik (JKAS), Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch. They acknowledged the initiative as a step forward in inclusive governance and service delivery.

The event was coordinated by District Social Welfare Officer Poonch, Mr. Khalil A. Banday (KAS), who ensured smooth and dignified distribution to the beneficiaries. He reiterated the department’s continued commitment to inclusive welfare schemes and outreach initiatives.

Speaking at the event, Honb’le Minister Sakeena Masood (Itoo) said, These tricycles are not just about mobility, they symbolize dignity, independence, and opportunity. Our government is focused on empowering every section of society, especially those with special needs.

The beneficiaries expressed sincere gratitude for the support, describing the tricycles as life changing. The initiative is expected to enhance access to education, employment, and public services for many of them.  Cni
