Rajouri, (cni): The district administration in Rajouri has swung into action after reports emerged of a rabid dog roaming in various parts of the town, attacking and biting several people, thereby posing a serious threat to human life and public safety.

An official order issued by Additional District Magistrate Mohd. Shamgir Khan as per news agency —(cni) reads, “whereas, immediate action is warranted to prevent further incidents, contain the spread of rabies, and safeguard public health, order reads.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and the relevant provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and in the interest of public safety, I, Additional District Magistrate, Rajouri, hereby direct the Municipal Council, Rajouri, in coordination with the Animal Husbandry Department and local Police authorities, to, Locate and safely capture or neutralize the said rabid dog in accordance with veterinary protocols and humane procedures. Ensure the deployment of a trained veterinary/animal control team equipped with necessary protective gear, it reads.

Take preventive measures to inform the public to avoid the affected area until the threat is neutralized. Provide immediate medical assistance to all persons who may have come in contact with or been bitten by the said animal, it reads.

This order shall come into force with immediate effect and remain operative until the threat is completely eliminated.”—(cni)
