Srinagar (cni) The Grand Mufti of Jammu & Kashmir has called for decisive and exemplary action in the wake of the recent rotten meat case that has triggered outrage across the Valley. Expressing serious concern over the public health hazards posed by such acts, the Grand Mufti urged the administration to invoke the Public Safety Act (PSA) against those involved, register FIRs without delay, and ensure their immediate arrest.
While talking to news agency (cni) He said the sale of rotten meat is not only a grave violation of food safety norms but also an inhuman act that puts the lives of unsuspecting consumers at risk. “Such crimes cannot be tolerated in any civilised society. The perpetrators must face the harshest possible punishment to deter others from indulging in similar practices,” he stressed.
The Grand Mufti also appealed to law enforcement agencies to conduct thorough inspections of meat markets and cold storage facilities to ensure that no substandard or harmful products reach the public. He urged the government to set up strict monitoring mechanisms and take preventive measures to restore public trust in food safety standards.
