Saluting Bravery: Gallantry Medals Conferred on IPS and JKPS Officers for Exemplary Courage

Srinagar, Aug 14 : On the occasion of Independence Day 2025, the Government of India has recognised the extraordinary courage and dedicated service of several police officers by conferring upon them the prestigious Gallantry Medal (GM).

Among the distinguished awardees is IPS officer Sujit Kumar, currently serving as IGP Crime and IGP Security who has been honoured for his exceptional bravery and leadership in the line of duty. His fearless commitment to ensuring public safety has earned him national recognition.

Joining him in this honour is Shri Sajad Ahmed Shah, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Awantipura, a JKPS officer, who has been awarded the Gallantry Medal for his resolute actions in high-risk operations and unwavering dedication to public service.

IPS Dr. GV Sandeep Chakravarthy, currently serving as SSP, Srinagar, has also been recognised for his extraordinary courage and operational excellence in combating threats to law and order in the region.

Additionally, Sahil Sarangal, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kulgam, has been awarded the Gallantry Medal for his distinguished service and exceptional bravery, further cementing his reputation as a committed and courageous officer in one of the most challenging districts.

These awards serve as a testament to the bravery, commitment, and sacrifice demonstrated by India’s police forces, especially in conflict-sensitive zones. The nation salutes these officers for their unwavering courage and steadfast dedication to duty.
