A cloudburst struck the Zadigay Tulail area of Gurez Valley in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday evening, triggering panic among residents and causing widespread damage to the vital road network.

Officials said the sudden cloudburst led to heavy discharge of water, which washed away significant portions of the main road. The incident has snapped connectivity to several villages in the Tulail belt, leaving residents in deep distress as they struggle with movement and access to essential services.

Though no casualties were reported, the damage to infrastructure has dealt a severe blow to the remote region. Locals said the disruption has paralyzed daily life and hampered emergency services.

Locals expressed serious concern over the increasing frequency of natural calamities in the hilly terrain of Gurez. They urged the administration to take swift measures to restore connectivity and called for long-term plans to make road infrastructure more resilient against disasters.

SHO Tulail, Mir Kazim, confirmed the incident and assured that restoration work would be taken up on priority to reconnect the affected villages. Cni
