Srinagar : Srinagar-based defence lawyer Advocate Aamir Masoodi has filed a written complaint seeking the registration of an FIR against self-styled Hindu activist Daksh Chaudhary and his associate for allegedly making blasphemous and derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in a video circulated on social media.

According to the complaint, the video, which went viral across various social media platforms on December 26, 2025, contains highly objectionable, abusive, and unparliamentary language targeting the Prophet of Islam, deeply hurting the religious sentiments of the Muslim community.

Advocate Aamir Masoodi stated that he is answerable to Allah as well as to his constitutional duties, asserting that freedom of expression does not permit hate speech or remarks that insult religious beliefs. He further noted that Daksh Chaudhary, being a public figure with a sizeable following, holds influence, and such statements have the potential to inflame communal passions and disturb public peace, particularly in the Muslim-majority region of Jammu and Kashmir.

Terming the incident “unfortunate,” the complaint emphasizes that individuals with public reach must act responsibly and refrain from making statements that threaten the country’s pluralistic ethos and communal harmony.(BAN)

The lawyer has invoked multiple legal provisions, urging authorities to take stringent action, stating that the alleged remarks warrant legal scrutiny and punishment under the law.
