Session to run from February to April 2026; budget, grants, appropriation bills on agenda

Jammu, cni The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Secretariat has released the provisional calendar for the 5th Session of the Legislative Assembly of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, outlining an extensive legislative and financial agenda scheduled from February to April 2026.
According to the calendar, the session will commence on February 2 with the Lieutenant Governor’s Address to the House, followed by a multi-day discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the LG’s Address and the government’s reply.
A major focus of the session will be financial business, including the presentation of the Annual Financial Statement of Expenditure for 2026–27 and the Supplementary Statement of Expenditure for 2025–26 to be taken on February 6.
The budget presentations will be followed by a general discussion on the Budget and the government’s response.
The provisional schedule further provides for detailed discussions on Demands for Grants over several sittings in February, with holidays interspersed as notified. In March 2026, the Assembly is slated to take up Appropriation Bills, other government business, as well as Private Members’ Bills and Private Members’ Resolutions.
The April leg of the session will continue with Private Members’ Bills and Resolutions alongside government business. As per the calendar, April 3 has been marked as a holiday on account of Good Friday.
