Advocate Ronik Sharma Demands Construction of Underground Bunkers Along LoC in Poonch

cni Advocate Ronik Sharma, Social activist today strongly demanded the construction of underground bunkers with essential life-support systems in areas along the Line of Control (LoC), including Poonch city, to safeguard civilians from cross-border hostilities.Mr. Sharma, highlighting the grave situation witnessed during Operation Sindoor in May last year, recalled that the Pakistani Army had carried out cowardly and targeted shelling on several parts of Poonch district, particularly at different locations in Poonch city. The intense and unprecedented shelling caused extensive damage to the houses of innocent civilians and resulted in numerous injuries to both civilians and security personnel, while some of whom also attained martyrdom.Advocate Sharma said that although the Government of India has significantly strengthened security measures and border infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir after Operation Sindoor, the civilian population living along the LoC remains highly vulnerable. He emphasized that the construction of individual and community underground bunkers would provide much needed protection to residents in shelling-prone areas.He further expressed serious concern over the recent intrusions by Pakistani drones along the Jammu and Kashmir border, stating that these developments indicate a possible attempt by Pakistan to escalate tensions. “There is every apprehension that the situation may worsen at any time,” he warned.Advocate Sharma urged the Central Government and the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir  to accord top priority to the construction of modern underground bunkers equipped with essential life-support systems, especially in Poonch city and other LoC areas where no such facilities exist.He stressed that while Indian security forces effectively retaliate to any provocation, civilian safety must not be ignored.
