Speaker J&K Assembly Visits Buzgoo, Nilnag; Stresses Faster Tourism Development and Improved Connectivity

Budgam, CNI NEWS: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Charar-i-Sharief, Abdul Rahim Rather, today visited Buzgoo and Nilnag areas of the Charar-i-Sharief Assembly Constituency in Budgam district and interacted with local residents to take stock of their developmental needs and concerns.
During the visit, the Speaker listened to the grievances and demands of the local population and assured them that their genuine issues would be taken up with the concerned departments for early redressal.
The Speaker stressed the need for expediting tourism development in the Nilnag and adjoining areas, stating that the region has immense potential to emerge as a major tourist destination and a source of sustainable livelihood and income generation for the local population.
He said that efforts would be made to improve connectivity between prominent tourist destinations, including through the development of the Barinibal Road connecting Yusmarg and Nilnag, enabling tourists to conveniently visit and enjoy both destinations.
The Speaker further said that a comprehensive development plan would be pursued for Nilnag and the entire adjoining tourism belt to ensure planned infrastructure development and enhanced facilities for visitors.
Interacting with the local residents, Rather assured them that necessary facilities and infrastructure, particularly in the sectors of road connectivity, drinking water supply and tourism infrastructure, would be strengthened. He said the developmental requirements of Buzgoo, Nilnag and other adjoining areas would receive due attention.
The locals also presented a memorandum of demands, highlighting the need for improved roads, augmentation of drinking water facilities and development of Nilnag as a tourism destination. The Speaker assured them that their concerns would be addressed in a phased and coordinated manner.
Emphasising better road connectivity, Rather said that major roads leading to tourist destinations would be taken up under appropriate development projects to facilitate smoother and easier travel. He also assured the residents that internal roads and link roads in Buzgoo would be improved and macadamised to strengthen connectivity.
The Speaker further said that the school at Nilnag would be provided appropriate infrastructure, including fencing, to ensure a better and conducive learning environment for students.
On drinking water facilities, he assured the residents that efforts would be made to provide an adequate and reliable drinking water supply under the Kralnag scheme, benefiting a large number of households in the area.
The Speaker also stressed that tourism destinations should be developed and managed in a manner that promotes sustained tourist activity while ensuring the protection of the area’s natural environment and local interests.
The Speaker was accompanied by CEO, Yusmarg Development Authority, Riyaz Ahmad Beigh; SE, Jal Shakti Department, Shazia Majid; Executive Engineer, PHE Chadoora, Mohd Younis, and other officers of line departments from Chadoora and Charar-i-Sharief sub-divisions. CNI NEWS
