A third Vande Bharat Express on the Jammu-Srinagar corridor is set to be launched soon, Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh said on Friday, signalling a further expansion of high-speed rail connectivity between the two regions.Singh said the Railway Ministry has approved Udhampur as a halt for the new service, acting on a persistent demand from the local population.

He described the decision as a significant development for Jammu and Kashmir. The additional service comes against the backdrop of strong demand for Vande Bharat trains on the Jammu-Srinagar route, with the existing services witnessing high occupancy. The new train is expected to augment passenger capacity and provide an additional fast and efficient travel option on the strategic rail corridor.

Singh also highlighted the rapid expansion of railway infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, including the completion of the challenging rail link to the Kashmir Valley and the construction of the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab River in Reasi. The introduction of another Vande Bharat service is expected to further strengthen connectivity, facilitate passenger movement and give a fresh push to tourism and economic activity along the Jammu-Srinagar corridor.
