Ishfaq gulzar cni Jammu, CNI NEWS Royal College of Nursing, Miran Sahib, Jammu, a unit of Royal Group of Colleges, organised a National Conference on Drug Awareness today with the objective of creating greater awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a healthy, safe and drug-free society.Held around the theme “ RISE ABOVE ADDICTION “ the
conference highlighted the importance of collective efforts to prevent substance abuse, overcome addiction and encourage healthier and more purposeful choices, particularly among the younger generation.Dr. Jyoti Tiwari, Principal, Royal College of Nursing, served as the Chairperson of the conference. Under her leadership, the programme provided a meaningful platform for awareness, education, dialogue and community engagement on the growing challenges associated with drug abuse and addiction.Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Director, SMVDIME, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Speaker. Addressing the gathering, he shared his valuable expertise and insights on drug awareness, prevention and rehabilitation, while emphasising the importance of collective efforts in combating substance abuse.
The conference focused on the physical, psychological and social consequences of substance dependence, preventive strategies, early intervention, rehabilitation, and the role of educational institutions and communities in building a drug-free society.The programme witnessed the participation of students, faculty members, educators and representatives from various institutions, who came together to spread the message of awareness and prevention against drug abuse.Mr. Manoj Kotru, Patron, Royal Group of Colleges, extended his support towards the initiative. The institution emphasised that sustained awareness, early education and active community participation are essential in addressing the menace of drug abuse.
