Statement by Youth JKPC President, Mr. Mudasir Karim, on the Urgent Need for Regulation to Protect Our School Children

Srinagar: As the President of Youth JKPC, I am deeply appalled by the absence of regulation that has allowed private van and auto-rickshaw drivers to blatantly compromise the safety of our school children. Their reckless actions, such as overcrowding vehicles beyond safe capacity, subject our young students to perilous journeys through congested city roads, endangering their lives and well-being.

Despite repeated warnings and occasional enforcement actions, this reckless practice persists, and it continues to put the lives of our young students at unnecessary risk. For far too long, these unregulated vans have become a common and concerning sight on our city’s roads, ferrying our children to and from school without a care for safety regulations.

Overcrowding, the absence of seatbelts, and a glaring lack of safety measures in these vehicles are persistent issues. (CNI) Current News of India
