The Kashmiri Pandit community expresses its deep anguish, anger, and complete rejection of the recent statement made by Farooq Abdullah on the solemn occasion of January 19 ,2026 the Day of Exodus, wherein he casually remarked that Kashmiri Pandit children will not return permanently and will only visit Kashmir as tourists.

Kundan Kashmiri , Senior KP leader & President KPC stated that such a statement is not merely insensitive, it is cruel, irresponsible, historically dishonest, and morally bankrupt.
Dr Farooq Abdullah must be reminded that Kashmiri Pandits did not leave Kashmir by choice. We were forced out at gunpoint, under threats of death, rape, and religious cleansing, while the administration of the day stood paralysed and in many cases, complicit.

KPC President stated ,to trivialise a genocide like displacement of an entire indigenous community by reducing it to a matter of “they did not come back” is an insult to the dead, the displaced, and the living sufferers of exile.
Let Farooq Abdullah reply who made return of KP community impossible ?
When Farooq Abdullah claims that houses were offered and Pandits did not return, but not answered Where was security, dignity, justice, and accountability?
Where was punishment for the killers of Kashmiri Pandits?
Where was restoration of temples, properties, lands, and shrines?
Where was an atmosphere free from Islamist intimidation and selective targeting?
Kundan Kashmiri while replying to the statement of Farooq Abdullah stated that return is not a picnic,this requires safety, honour, confidence, and constitutional guarantees, not hollow political statements.

Farooq Abdullah while falsely Compared Displaced Kashmiri pandits with those small sections of Kashmiri Pandits Who stayed in the valley , Senior KP leader and President KPC stated, yes, a handful of Kashmiri Pandits stayed back at the cost of humiliation, fear, and silence, living as hostages to circumstances. Their presence cannot be used to whitewash the systematic ethnic cleansing of over 4–5 lakh Kashmiri Pandits.

To suggest or presume that Kashmiri Pandit children will only return as tourists to vally is to declare the final success of ethnic cleansing and inner mind set of Kashmir centric leaders
. It is an open admission that Kashmir has been made uninhabitable for its original inhabitants and instead of expressing shame or remorse, Farooq Abdullah appears disturbingly comfortable with this reality.

Let Farooq Abdullah answer, If Kashmiri Pandits are only “tourists” in Kashmir, then, who destroyed Kashmir’s composite culture? Who benefited politically from KP,s absence? Who ruled for decades while Pandits rotted in camps and slums?
Kundan Kashmiri while giving final Message to Farooq Abdullah and his likes that ,Kashmiri Pandits are not refugees, not tourists, not vote banks, and not expendable collateral.
We are the aboriginal sons and daughters of Kashyap Bhoomi, the Kashmir valley, .our exile is not our failure , it is the collective failure of Kashmir’s political leadership, of which Farooq Abdullah has been one of the longest beneficiaries.
KPC Chief demanded ,truth, accountability, repentance, and justice , not lectures, sarcasm, or historical distortion.
He said, until Kashmir becomes safe and secure in all respects,and justice given to the KP victims , the responsibility for our continued exile lies squarely on those who ruled, misruled, and remained silent.
History will remember who suffered and who trivialised that suffering.
