Country that chooses to be separately going bankrupt; Atta per kg Rs 350, Milk Rs 175 per litre; Aug 5, 2019 move removed all hurdles, J&K crown of India, citizens treated at par with any other citizen of country

Srinagar, Oct 25: Senior BJP leader and party’s J&K spokesman Altaf Thakur Wednesday said that every J&K citizen feels as a proud Indian as “we celebrate October 26 as the accession day” as the developments taking place in the neighbouring country show that the then Maharaja Hari Singh took a wise decision by acceding with the Union of India.

It was on October 26, 1947, when the then Maharaja of J&K Hari Singh acceded to India after rebels from neighbouring country attacked Kashmir in a bid to grab this portion too. After accession, Indian army landed in J&K and pushed back the attackers. “Mahraja’s decision to accede with the Union of India was a wise decision as the time has proved it. Today, the fate of neighbouring country hangs in balance while prices of essential commodities have gone sky rocket there. Atta per kg is sold at Rs 350 while Milk is sold at Rs 175 per litre. Similarly, other essentials have become unaffordable for the common man there,” Thakur said in a statement issued here.

He said that people of J&K are feeling relieved as they are reaping the benefits of accession. “Today, India is the fastest growing economy of the world and the country is touching new heights,” he said. “In Pakistan petrol is sold at Rs 350 per ltr and one can understand how far the inflation is going there.”

Thakur said that Maharaja’s vision was right as he knew the J&K deserves to be part of India. “October 26, 1947, got a further push on August 5, 2019, when Prime Minister Narendera Modi led government at the Centre removed all hurdles and removed Article 370 forever to ensure merger of J&K with the Union like any other State of the country,” Thakur said, adding that there is no denying the fact that both the decision’s one taken on October 26, 1947, and another on August 5, 2019 were historic in nature. “Today, the menace of terrorism is vanishing and people are enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and living in a free air far from violence and killings,” Thakur said.
