Srinagar, , CNI: The annual Urs of the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Ameer-e-Kabeer Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA), also known as Shah-e-Hamadan, was observed with immense religious fervor and spiritual devotion across various parts of Kashmir, including Tral in Pulwama district and downtown Srinagar.
Thousands of devotees, including men, women, and children, gathered at the historic Khanqah-e-Faiz Panah in Tral on Sunday to participate in special congregational prayers. According to eyewitnesses, the shrine witnessed a massive turnout, especially during the Zuhr prayers. People from dozens of villages in the Tral sub-division and other parts of south Kashmir came together to pay their respects.
On this occasion, the sacred relics of Hazrat Shah-e-Hamadan (RA) were displayed to the faithful, further deepening the spiritual atmosphere.
In Srinagar, the main Urs function was held at the iconic Khanqah-e-Moula shrine situated on the banks of the Jhelum River. Devotees from different parts of the valley thronged the shrine and participated in night-long prayers. The gathering swelled further during the midday congregational prayers, where special prayers were offered for peace and prosperity in Kashmir.
The shrine was beautifully decorated with lights, and the surrounding area buzzed with activity as vendors set up stalls selling various items for the occasion. Authorities had arranged Shamiyanas (canopies) to shelter the devotees from the hot and humid weather, ensuring smooth conduct of the event.
Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA), a renowned Iranian-born Sufi scholar, poet, and preacher, played a pivotal role in spreading Islam in Kashmir during the 14th century. He arrived in the valley with 700 disciples in 774 AH (1372 CE). Though he passed away in Khatlan, Tajikistan, in 1384 CE, his legacy continues to live on in the hearts of the people of Kashmir. (CNI)
