Nowshera : cni The 113th birth anniversary of Brigadier Mohammad Usman, MVC — famously known as the “Lion of Nowshera” — was commemorated with great reverence and patriotic fervour at Usman Memorial and Community Learning Centre, Jhangar (Nowshera). The event was jointly organised by the District Administration, Rajouri and the Indian Army.
The program commenced with the screening of a documentary highlighting the heroic life, leadership, and supreme sacrifice of Brig Usman, who laid down his life while valiantly defending Nowshera during the Indo-Pak War of 1947-48.
Local school students added patriotic spirit to the occasion with stirring performances. DC Rajouri delivered a heartfelt address, underlining Brig Usman’s unmatched courage and his enduring legacy as a symbol of unity and bravery.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, civil dignitaries, and Army personnel, reflecting the deep respect and pride the region holds for its war hero.
The event, jointly organised by the Indian Army and Civil Administration such as J&K Forest department, Department of Rural development and Panchayat, ICDS Project, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Department showcased seamless synergy and coordination between the two institutions.
The commemoration was a fitting tribute to Brig Usman’s indomitable spirit and a reminder of the sacrifices made for the sovereignty of the nation.
