SRINAGAR,(CNI) Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee is facing what local political analysts are calling an “existential crisis” in Jammu & Kashmir, with grassroots workers expressing growing frustration over the party’s leadership and recent electoral setback.
In a Statement issued to the News Agency Buland Awaaz (CNI) Said that the party insiders as well outsiders claim that Congress has lost significant ground in both the regions following controversial ticket distribution decisions during the recent assembly elections. Sources within & outside the party allege that these decisions were made in consultation with political enemies of Congress by “habitual turncoats” for their personal gains rather than party interests.
“The party’s identity has been severely compromised under the current leadership,” said a veteran Congress leader who requested anonymity. “Many feel that leaders like Tariq Hameed Karra and others have failed to maintain the party’s core values and position in J&K politics.”
Critics within & ouside the party point to what they describe as opportunistic politics, accusing several senior leaders of shifting loyalties based on political convenience rather than ideological commitment. This has reportedly demoralized the party’s cadre at the grassroots level.
The alliance with National Conference (NC) has also come under scrutiny, with party workers alleging that the coalition was formed primarily to benefit specific constituencies like Central Shaltang and Dooru, rather than advancing broader party interests across the region.
“Congress workers who have dedicated decades to the party are now struggling without proper direction,” explained a local political observer. “The party that once had a strong presence across Jammu & Kashmir regions has seen its influence vanished dramatically.”
Calls for intervention from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) have grown louder, with party loyalists demanding organizational restructuring and removal of leaders they view as opportunistic. They argue that immediate corrective measures are essential for Congress’s revival in the region.–(CNI)
