The new road to Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO), India’s northernmost military base, will allow soldiers, weapons, and supplies to be moved to reinforce the front lines.
India is on the verge of completing an ambitious project to provide much-needed alternative connectivity to a remote, strategically significant outpost close to the contested Line of Actual Control (LAC), according to top officials with knowledge of the situation on Thursday. China’s predatory behaviour and military ambitions have led to a lingering border spat in Ladakh, where India is rushing to reshape the strategic landscape.

On August 13 and 14, the two forces’ corps commanders held 19 rounds of negotiations and came to an agreement to resolve the outstanding concerns along the Ladakh sector of the LAC.

The new road will enable the transfer of troops, equipment, and supplies to bolster the front lines at Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO), India’s northernmost military base.
According to one of the authorities who requested anonymity, the only route leading to DBO from Darbuk is visible from across the LAC, a benefit that the new road does not have. Additionally, because it is further away from the LAC, it is less susceptible to attacks coming from the other side of the border.

By the end of November, it will be prepared to facilitate crucial military movement, and a year later, it is expected to be completely blacktopped. There are about 2,000 employees labouring to achieve the deadline.
