Srinagar, 23 April (CNI) : Government school teachers do not trust the schools where they teach and earn their living as far as the study of their children is concerned. Instead, their loyalty lies with the private schools and prefer to send their wards there as they feel these schools are better groomed there.

As per the News agency-Current News of India (CNI),in a bid to revive enrollment in the government educational system, The department has started the kindergarten sections in government school through which the children enrolled are taught in a play way method which is more interactive than the routine practice of teaching in schools.

Government have focussed on ‘accessibility’ by making education free, and providing free textbooks, uniforms and mid-day meal to the students in government schools but learning does not happen automatically.

No doubt the enrollment drive, launched by the J&K government, aims to provide better education opportunities to students across Valley but parents are in distress as some government teachers still educating their children in private schools.

Despite qualified teachers and hefty salaries, government schools are considered to be meant for poor and underprivileged children, parents are ready to send their wards to private schools by paying monthly fees in thousands where teachers are getting 5,000 to 8,000 as monthly salaries. But they are not willing to rely on government schools where no fee is charged and teachers are employed at a monthly salary of more than Rs 30,000.

As per the official figures given out by the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) around 50000 new admissions were registered till April 01 of this year. The figures include 11231 admission of those students who shifted from private schools to government schools while 1621 Out of School Children (OoSC) were also enrolled in the schools as well.

Number of parents told through the mic of Current News of India (CNI) that if all government employees are made to send their children to public schools, then they would certainly have a vested interest in making meaningful improvement in the public education system.

A parent says that if government teachers study their children in government schools, especially where they are teaching, they would be interested in improving the educational environment of the institution.

The Directorate of School education (DSEK) needs to made strict measures in order to improve the educational environment in public education system. (CNI)
