Jammu, cni : Dr. S. P. Varma, President, Gandhi Global Family (GGF), Jammu and Kashmir, calls on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today at Lok Bhawan, Jammu, to extend New Year Greetings. In the meeting, Dr. S. P. Varma offered a bouquet of white roses to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, symbolizing tranquility in the current crisis-laden globe.
Dr. Varma formally extended an invitation to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor to preside over the Punyatithi of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, at Diwan-e-Aam Mubarak Mandi, Jammu, on 30th January 2026.Several significant matters were brought to his kind notice during the meeting, including the proposal to invite the family members of freedom fighters and the families of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s sovereignty and integrity on the Punyatithi of Mahatma Gandhi. A discussion occurred over the 2026 calendar of activities for the Gandhi Global Family, which included a request to organize a “Shanti Samelan” in both provinces of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr. S. P. Varma apprised the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor that Gandhi Global Family recognizes exemplary students from educational institutions in rural regions of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to foster a competitive spirit among students, thereby motivating them to exert greater effort. The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor was additionally apprised that the General Officers Commanding (GOCs) of 9 Corps and 16 Corps at Satwari and Nagrota, respectively, recognized the volunteers of GGF for their unwavering and diligent efforts during Operation Sindoor and Operation Rahat recently. Dr. S. P. Varma conveyed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha for recognizing the diligent efforts of the Gandhi Global Family team by honoring them on 2nd October 2025 at SKICC, Srinagar, for their outreach to the victims and their families during Operation Sindoor and Operation Rahat.
On this occasion, Dr. Varma presented a traditional Dogra cap to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, specifically crafted by Ms. Meenakshi Suri, a distinguished Dogra costume designer from Jammu. The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha, commended the endeavors of Gandhi Global Family in disseminating Gandhian principles of peace, truth and non-violence among society and urged the organization to persist in its significant efforts.
