Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir government has constituted a high level selection committee headed by Chief Secretary for the post of Director Sher Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS).

According to an order issued by the Department of Health and Medical Education, a copy of which is with news agency Current News of India (CNI), the committee has been asked to prepare a panel of three candidates based on merit Below the selection criteria for the post of Director SKIMS.

According to the order, Chief Secretary Atal Dilu will be the Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Committee, while M Srinivas, Director, AIIMS, New Delhi, Prof. Dr. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh and Dr. Achal Kumar Srivastava, Prof. , Department of Neurology, AIIMS New Delhi will be its member. While Syed Abid Rasheed Secretary Health and Medical Education Department will be the member/secretary of the committee.

It may be noted that the former director of SCAMS, Dr. Parvez Kaul, retired on March 8, after which Abid Rasheed, secretary of the health and medical education department, was given the additional charge of the post of director of SCAMS.

The post of Director SKIMS was advertised last month and 29 candidates applied for the post although the government has not released the shortlist of candidates.(CNI)
