Srinagar, 10 February (CNI): The north Kashmir’s famous tourist destination, Gulmarg Will become a winter sports hub soon and the government’s efforts are underway, says Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, adding that the budget allocated for promoting sports in Jammu and Kashmir is higher than other states.
As per the Current News of India (CNI), while addressing the gathering during the inauguration of the third edition of “Khelo India Winter Games” in Gulmarg, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that every effort was being made to bring the skills of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to the people who are associated with it.
He said that the sports exhibition Gulmarg would soon become the best hub for winter sports. Congratulating the organizers for their efforts in organizing the mega event, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that it was a proud movement for the area administered by the Jammu and Kashmir centre.
“I congratulate everyone, including the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the High Altitude Warfare School, and the Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering, J&K Sports Council and the members of the event.
He said that Gulmarg will celebrate the excellent performance of sports on snow-covered slopes and witness the skills, courage and character competitions of players in 11 fields.
We have transformed the sports tournament in Gulmarg into a truly spectacular event. He said that the Sports India Second was a great success and today the country is united on the third National Winter Games event. He said the game is a medium that can change everything and it will not change the behaviour of the players but change the scenario of the whole world.
He further said that Only three months later, we are going to hold a G20 meeting in Jammu and Kashmir, adding that Jammu and Kashmir is the top sports infrastructure all over the country as we have stadiums and playgrounds in every village.
Our country has been deprived of sports soft power for the past 60 years, but fortunately, Prime Minister Modi’s efforts have paved the way and now we are in the process of organizing mega sports events, he said.
Adding that PM Modi gave the youth a new sky and new wings. Manoj Sinha said that for the past 9 years, the country has produced many sports heroes and all this is due to Prime Minister Modi. Sports can give birth to sustainable development and the Ministry of Sports has left no stone unturned in making Jammu and Kashmir the centre of sports in the country.
Manoj Sinha further said that Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council is doing its best to promote sports and it has covered almost every district and every village, adding that the budget of the sports sector of Jammu and Kashmir is higher than in other states of the country.
