Bandipora : The residents of Bagtore village along Line of Control in Gurez valley of North Kashmir ‘s Bandipora district on Monday witnessed a vibrant celebration as the local community welcomed the New Year with enthusiasm.
Amidst the chilling cold landscapes, hundreds of men and women and officials of the Indian army actively participated in diverse cultural programs,.
The function witnessed large participation’ gifts and sweets were distributed among the residents.
Several cultural programmes were held on the occasion in which local artists and school childrens take part.
Local residents, emphasised their tradition of celebrating every festival with the Army to ensure they do not miss their families.
“Since they live away from their families, we don’t want them to miss their families and celebrate every festival with them. And today, we celebrated the New Year with the army and enjoyed it a lot,” they said.
Safeena a local women highlighted the familial bond between the Army and residents. “We have always been living together in harmony,” she said’.
“We are thankful to the Indian army for supporting us all time. They remain at the forefront every time for border residents of Gurez valley,” ,she further said’.(CNI) Current News of India
