As winter tightens its grip over the Gurez Valley, the resolve of the security forces and support agencies stands firm in ensuring that this remote region remains connected with the rest of the country. Despite relentless snowfall, sub-zero temperatures, and sheets of ice blocking vital routes, continuous efforts are being made by NIRU Battalion, and the General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) to keep the lifeline of Gurez open.

Working in extremely challenging conditions, heavy machinery, dozers, and snow cutters are being deployed round the clock. Where machines fail to operate due to extreme cold and terrain constraints, soldiers themselves step in, using shovels and pickaxes to manually clear ice and snow. Their dedication ensures that communication routes remain functional and essential supplies reach the valley without interruption.

Troops deployed at Niru are also playing a crucial role. From their forward locations, they are working shoulder to shoulder with GREF teams, contributing manpower and logistical support to achieve uninterrupted connectivity.

These collective efforts reflect not only professional commitment but also a deep sense of responsibility towards the people of Gurez Valley. Through determination and teamwork, the forces continue to keep the valley connected, even in the harshest of winters cni
