High Court Seeks Personal Appearance of Principal Secretary, DSEJ Over ‘Non-compliance of Court Orders

Srinagar: The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, sitting in Jammu, has ordered Principal Secretary to Government, School Education Department, J&K, and Director, School Education Department, Jammu, to appear before the court on 29.11.2023 to explain why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against them.

According to Current News of India (CNI), Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul in an order said, “The judgment passed on 18.12.2009 has not been complied with till date, which makes it clear that the respondents are deliberately avoiding the implementation of the same and, thus, have committed contempt of the Court.”

“Accordingly, the respondents No. 1 and 2, i.e., Sh. Alok Kumar
(IRS), Principal Secretary to Government, School Education Department, J&K and Sh. Ashok Kumar Sharma (JKAS), Director, School Education Department, Jammu shall remain present on the next date of hearing to explain as to why proceedings shall not be initiated against them.”

“In the event, the judgment is implemented in its letter and spirit by or before the next date of hearing, the said respondents need not to appear on the next date of hearing.
