Srinagar 26th July : Observed annually on July 26, Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates the end of Operation Vijay on July 26, 1999, when India liberated Pakistani-occupied positions across high-altitude peaks in Kargil and Dras.
Among the approximately 527–490 Indian soldiers killed in the conflict, iconic heroes like Captains Vikram Batra and Manoj Pandey were posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra.
Beyond ceremonial tributes, the Indian Army undertook tributes like a memorial expedition to Tololing Peak on June 11, and a 680 km bicycle expedition from Siachen to Dras between June 25 and July 12. These initiatives engaged communities and students across Ladakh
