In a major infrastructural development, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary inaugurated the much-awaited bridge at Ghambir Nallah in Majalta, Udhampur. As part of the event, Dr. Singh also laid the foundation stone for a 135-meter-long double-lane motorable bridge at Ghambhir Nallah, fulfilling a long-pending demand of over 50 years. The project aims to significantly enhance connectivity for several villages in the region, improving transportation and accessibility.
The bridge will be constructed by B and L Project Constructions Private Limited, a reputed company known for its dedication and efficiency. Speaking at the event, Dr. Shabir Ahmed, the contractor from B and L Project Constructions, stated that the bridge will directly connect the main Dhar road with the Tehsil Headquarters of Majalta, reducing the travel distance by 1.5 kilometers and bypassing the landslide-prone Majalta Link Road. Dr. Ahmed assured that the project would be completed ahead of the stipulated one-year deadline.
During his address, Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted the bridge’s importance, stating that it will benefit approximately 1.5 lakh people in and around Majalta by facilitating better access to markets, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and government offices. The project is expected to be completed within 36 months.
The bridge holds significant importance for the local population, as it will reduce travel time, enhance safety, and promote economic growth. Residents expressed optimism, hoping the bridge will bring positive changes to their daily lives.
Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary praised the efforts of the construction company and assured the public of the government’s continued focus on improving road and bridge networks in the region.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of local officials, community leaders, and residents, who welcomed the initiative with enthusiasm.
