Jammu cni Jambu Lochan Boys Hostel, University of Jammu commemorated Independence Day with a dignified flag-hoisting ceremony today, organized under the guidance of Prof. Lalitsen Sharma, Provost Boys Hostels. The event brought together boarders, hostel administration, and distinguished guests to reaffirm national unity and progressive ideals.
Resident Warden Dr. Nitan Sharma set the tone with a welcome address, emphasizing the day’s significance and urging students to embody values essential for contributing to Viksit Bharat.
Eminent guests shared powerful messages with the boarders. Shri Subash Gupta (Retd. District & Sessions Judge & Former J&K PSC Member) reflected on the horrors of Partition, underscoring the critical need to protect India’s sovereignty and calling on youth to lead in safeguarding national integrity.
Shri Sohail Kazmi (Senior Journalist & Member, J&K Waqf Board) highlighted India’s resolve following Operation Sindoor and encouraged students to actively work towards realising the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Mr. Harish Kumar (Assistant Director, NCB Jammu) addressed the menace of drug abuse, stressing everyone’s responsibility to break free from its clutches and spread the message of a drug-free society to every corner of the nation.
Following the flag hoisting, an interactive session allowed boarders Shivam, Abhay, Anees, Touqeer, and Atul Singh to share their perspectives on national progress. Guests were presented with literature detailing the social and legal dimensions of drug abuse and the Viksit Bharat initiative.
Dr. Satyapriya Arya, Warden, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the guests while urging students to become “social engineers” and instrumental forces in building a self-reliant and brighter India.
