Srinagar, (CNI): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday criticized the current administration’s approach of “using force, imprisonment, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) to enforce peace in Kashmir.”

She said this during a youth conclave where she met with the young delegates of the party at her residence in Srinagar.

A PDP spokesman said the event saw participation from3 scores of youngsters from across the valley, reflecting the vibrant involvement of youth in the party’s activities.

Expressing her gratitude, Mufti thanked the youth members for their tireless efforts during the recently held Lok Sabha election.

She emphasized the PDP’s unwavering dedication to peace-building initiatives, including ceasefire agreements, granting amnesty to thousands of youngsters, initiating dialogue with separatists, and opening of roads for sustainable peace in Kashmir.

Mufti reiterated that all alliances formed by the PDP aimed at bridging the gap between Kashmir and the rest of the country, pursuing peaceful resolutions with neighboring regions.

She criticized the current government’s approach of using force, imprisonment, and the UAPA to enforce peace in Kashmir.

“Today there’s silence in Kashmir and violence in Jammu,” Mehbooba said.

The PDP Chief said the youth were the region’s biggest asset, but unfortunately, due to unprecedented unemployment levels, many young people have fallen victim to depression and drug abuse.

In her address, Mufti welcomed the participation of Jamaat-e-Islami in the democratic process, affirming the PDP’s consistent advocacy for political engagement and reconciliation across diverse ideologies.–(CNI)
