Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has reaffirmed its commitment to restoring the public holiday on July 13 to honour the martyrs of 1931.JKNC Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq reiterating party’s stand said, “We have made a promise to restore the July 13 holiday.
We have already submitted our request and hope it will be approved soon. We will continue to offer Fatiha and Kharaj-e-Aqeedat to the martyrs without fail.”He also called for the early return of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, saying only then can the damage of the past years be repaired.Sadiq criticised Apni Party and PDP
president Mehbooba Mufti, accusing them of showing “no respect” for the historic day during their alliance with the BJP.“Not even once did any of their cabinet ministers visit the martyrs’ graveyard on July 13 to offer Fatiha or pay Kharaj-e-Aqeedat. Mehbooba Mufti’s own ministers did not even carry the Jammu and Kashmir flag on their cars,” Sadiq said.
He added that members of the BJP, part of their cabinet in 2019, never recognised the importance of July 13. “And today, the same people point fingers at us? This is pure politics. People have rejected them,” he said.
