JKSACS, CRC Organise Awareness Programme on HIV/AIDS, Drug De-Addiction in Hajin Bandipora

Hajin: The J&K AIDS Control Society, Department of Health and Medical Education, in collaboration with the Composite Regional Centre, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Bemina, under the Intensified IEC Campaign, organized an awareness programme on HIV/AIDS/STIs, drug de-addiction, and the HIV Act, 2017 at the Community Health Centre Hajin on Thursday.

 

The programme was held as per the directions of Dr. Abdul Rouf Bhat, Project Director of J&K AIDS Control Society, and was attended by ASHAs from block Hajin.

 

On the occasion, ASHAs from 10 villages of Hajin were sensitized on the issues of HIV/AIDS, STIs, and drug de-addiction.

 

The program was chaired by Block Medical Officer Hajin, Dr. Idrees Ahmad. Also present in the presidium were Sabiha Iqbal, Assistant Director Mainstreaming (JKACS); Rehabilitation Officer Shameem Ahmad; and CHO Hajin, Parvaiz Ahmad.

 

Rehabilitation Officer Shameem Ahmad delivered the welcome address and provided insights into the objectives and aims of organizing the event. He also delivered a presentation focusing on the prevalence of drug abuse among youth, its prevention, and associated consequences.

 

BMO Hajin, Dr. Idrees Ahmad, emphasized the significance of such initiatives in promoting community health and well-being.

 

Assistant Director JKACS, Sabiha Iqbal, sensitized the participants about the basics of HIV/AIDS, modes of transmission, and precautionary measures. She also engaged in a detailed interaction with the participants regarding the theme.

 

She underscored the severity of the virus, highlighting the risks associated with practices such as reusing needles, engaging in unprotected sex, and contact with infected bodily fluids, which have claimed millions of lives worldwide.
