The Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC), an allied organisation of ASKPC, makes a solemn appeal to all Kashmiri Pandits, residing in , Jammu,Delhi, Pune, Banglore, Chandigarh & other parts of India and abroad, to observe July 13, 2025, as “Black Day” in remembrance of one of the most painful and defining tragedies in our community’s history.

On this day( July 13) in 1931, under the banner of the then Muslim Conference of Kashmir, the first organized and targeted violence against the Kashmiri Pandit community was unleashed. In places like Srinagar, Kanikote, Mirpur, Poonch, Kotla, and other regions, innocent members of our community & other Hindus were brutally attacked, looted, and killed.

The events of that day mark the beginning of a dark era of persecution, fear, and exile that continues to haunt us even after nine decades. This day must be remembered not with silence, but with resolve. It is a day to honour the memories of those who laid down their lives simply for being what they were Kashmiri Hindus.

Their sacrifices must not be forgotten, and their history must not be allowed to be erased or rewritten.KPC strongly urges every member of the community to observe this day with full dedication. Switch off the lights of your homes and business establishments from 7.30 PM to 8 PM ( half an hour at Sandhya) as a symbolic gesture of mourning. Wear black badges and headgears. Hoist black flags in your homes, .

Organise peaceful meetings and gatherings to remember our martyrs, raise awareness, and reflect on the injustice inflicted upon us. Offer prayers in memory of the innocent lives lost in 1931 and in the decades that followed.

Let us also strongly demand to carve out one place settlement ( separate Kashyap Bhoomi)for victim Kashmiri Pandits, grant indigenous status to Kashmiri Pandit community in Kashmir, passage of genocide bill genocide .. We must continue to uphold the truth ,demand and justice.

KPC believes that observing this Black Day is not just a tribute to our martyrs, but a message to the world that the Kashmiri Pandit community will neither forget its past nor remain silent about the injustices faced. We owe it to our ancestors, to our future generations, and to the truth. With unity and determination,
