The Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC), along with like-minded organizations and the entire Kashmiri Pandit community, strongly welcomes and fully supports the Central Government’s decision to ban the Awami Action Committee (AAC) and Jammu and Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen (JKIM) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967, for five years.

This long-overdue but highly appropriate action is a step in the right direction to safeguard India’s sovereignty, integrity, and national security from the dangerous elements that have been spreading separatism, inciting violence, supporting terrorism, and fueling unrest in Jammu and Kashmir.

The AAC and JKIM have been actively involved in anti-India propaganda, radicalization, and funding terrorist networks. Their role in promoting separatism and extremism has been well-documented, and their continued existence posed a grave threat to the peace and stability of Jammu and Kashmir. These organizations have been instrumental in spreading discontent, disrupting law and order, and instigating youth to take the path of militancy against the Indian state.

More importantly, these separatist organizations played a significant role in the ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Pandits from their homes and hearths. Through their hate speeches, open support for radical groups, and incitement of violence, they created an atmosphere of fear, forcing an entire indigenous community into exile. The atrocities inflicted upon innocent Kashmiri Pandits—murders, mass displacement, and destruction of property—were carried out under their influence and instigation.

The KPC demands that not only should these groups remain permanently banned, but their leaders and members should be arrested and prosecuted under stringent laws. Those who have openly collaborated with terrorist groups, facilitated anti-national activities, and been involved in the killing and persecution of innocents should face the strictest possible punishment, including life imprisonment.

We urge the government to seize all financial and logistical resources of these separatist groups, dismantle their entire ecosystem, and ensure that their influence is completely eradicated from the region. Any individual or group supporting them directly or indirectly must also face immediate legal action.

The Kashmiri Pandit community has suffered immensely at the hands of such radical organizations. Today’s decision by the Central Government, though delayed, is a welcome step towards justice and accountability. However, we emphasize that this should only be the beginning. The government must continue to act decisively against all such anti-national elements, ensuring that Kashmir remains an integral part of India in both spirit and action.

The KPC and the entire Kashmiri Pandit community stand firm in our support for all measures aimed at crushing separatism and restoring lasting peace in our land of Kashyap. We appeal to the government to take this momentum forward and uproot all remnants of radicalization, ensuring that such forces never rise again.
