Kathua, (cni): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed profound grief over the loss of lives in the devastating rain-triggered landslides that struck several areas of Kathua district. Calling the tragedy “mind-numbing,” the LG said his thoughts are with the bereaved families while praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.

In a statement, Sinha informed that he had briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the ongoing rescue and relief operations being carried out by the Army, NDRF, SDRF, police, and civil administration.

The LG said he has directed senior civil and police officials to remain on the ground, coordinate closely, and ensure immediate relief and medical assistance at the affected sites.

Rescue operations are underway, with authorities working to clear debris and provide aid to affected families.(cni)
