JAMMU, (CNI )Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta today called for the development of the world’s tallest rail bridge—the Chenab Bridge in Reasi—as a global tourism destination. He said that just like the Eiffel Tower in Paris attracts millions of tourists from across the world, the Chenab Bridge holds the potential to become an iconic landmark that can boost both national and international tourism in India.

Speaking at the meeting held at Party Headquarters here today, the BJP stalwart emphasized that the Chenab Rail Bridge, an engineering marvel and a symbol of New India’s infrastructural might, must not be viewed merely as a transportation structure. “This bridge is not just about connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country through railways. It is about showcasing India’s technological advancement to the world. It should be developed as a tourist hotspot,” he said.

Drawing parallels with other world-famous sites, Kavinder stressed the need for visionary planning. “Just like Gulmarg has emerged as a global winter tourism hub, similar locations should be identified and strategically developed across the Jammu region. The Union Territory is blessed with immense natural beauty, heritage, and now, iconic infrastructure. It is time we leverage this potential for employment generation, economic growth, and global recognition,” he added.

The senior BJP leader appealed to the Ministry of Tourism and the UT administration to initiate steps for branding and marketing such sites on the global tourism map. “With improved connectivity, growing interest in adventure tourism, and the peaceful environment being restored, Jammu & Kashmir can be transformed into a world-class tourist destination,” he asserted.

Kavinder asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for J&K as a hub of development, tourism, and prosperity can be further realized by integrating infrastructure and tourism planning in a holistic manner.
