Jammu, (CNI): Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta has expressed concern over the recent surge in Covid-19 cases across the country and urged citizens to remain cautious and adhere to health advisories issued by the government.
With India’s active Covid-19 cases surpassing the 6,000 mark, the BJP stalwart emphasized that the evolving situation requires public cooperation along with administrative readiness. He welcomed the proactive approach of the Central Government in conducting nationwide mock drills and reviewing facility-level preparedness to ensure that isolation beds, oxygen supplies, ventilators, and essential medicines are adequately available.
“Although most reported cases are mild and being treated under home care, we must not lower our guard. Past experiences have shown that negligence can be costly. I appeal to the people of Jammu and the nation to continue following Covid-appropriate behavior such as wearing masks in crowded places, maintaining hygiene, and avoiding unnecessary gatherings,” he said.
The senior BJP leader lauded the efforts of health authorities, especially the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and Disaster Management Cells, who are actively monitoring Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) cases. He also stressed the importance of timely testing and genome sequencing of positive cases to stay ahead of any potential new variants.
Kavinder assured the public that the BJP-led government is fully committed to safeguarding the health of citizens and is closely coordinating with all stakeholders at the central and state levels. He reiterated that public awareness and responsible behavior will remain the strongest tools in keeping the virus in check.(CNI)
